Showcase
From operating rooms to sports pitches, from living room TVs to cloud studios, GStreamer is the media engine inside products of very different kinds. Here are some of the ones built on it, and how they use it.
Do you ship a product built on GStreamer? File an issue on our GitLab and we will be happy to feature it.
Network cameras
Axis
Axis builds network cameras and security devices. In almost every streaming solution involving an Axis device, GStreamer is the component that orchestrates the flow of data.
Community TV
Cablecast
Cablecast is a community video platform that runs channels for cable, web, apps and live events. Its video server engine was rebuilt on top of GStreamer.

Command-line tools
GStreamer tools
The framework ships with tools you can use right away. gst-launch-1.0 builds and runs a pipeline from a text description, gst-play-1.0 plays media, gst-inspect-1.0 lists the available elements, gst-discoverer-1.0 analyses files, and ges-launch-1.0 renders editing timelines.
Science
LIGO
GstLAL is a set of GStreamer elements that wraps gravitational-wave analysis tools as pipeline components. Its low-latency searches for merging black holes and neutron stars have enabled rapid follow-up observations of dozens of candidates.

Sports analysis
LongoMatch
LongoMatch is video analysis software for coaches, used to tag plays, review matches and share the results. Its video playback and analysis are built on GStreamer.
Video streaming
Netflix
Netflix uses GStreamer in its testing platform, where multi-process pipelines pass video between processes without copying it.

AI video analytics
NVIDIA DeepStream
DeepStream is built on GStreamer: NVIDIA provides GPU-accelerated plugins for decoding, inference and tracking, and a DeepStream application is a GStreamer pipeline.
Video conferencing
Pexip
Pexip uses GStreamer for the real-time audio and video processing behind its platform, and is one of the project's most active contributors, especially on RTP and network performance.
Drone ground station
QGroundControl
QGroundControl is the open source ground control station for drones running PX4 or ArduPilot. It receives and records the live video from the drone with GStreamer.

Set-top box software
RDK
RDK is an open source software stack for set-top boxes, gateways and smart media devices. Its media framework and its adaptive streaming player are built on GStreamer.
Cloud post-production
Sequence
Sequence is a suite for editing, color and audio in the cloud. Its video editing is built on GStreamer Editing Services, the GStreamer framework for building non-linear editors.
Sports cameras
Spiideo
Spiideo offers automated sports video for recording, analysis and broadcasting. Its real-time tracking system, which combines several camera streams and aims a virtual camera at the action, is built with GStreamer and Rust.

Lecture capture
UbiCast
UbiCast builds solutions to capture and webcast interactive video, such as lectures and talks. Its solutions are built on GStreamer, and it also records and hosts the talks of the GStreamer Conference.
Sports cameras
Veo
Veo's AI cameras record a whole match without an operator. A GStreamer pipeline on the camera turns the sensor data into video, and Veo's teams build custom GStreamer plugins for processing it on the device and in the cloud.
Cloud TV playout
Veset
Veset runs TV channels in the cloud. The core of its player is a GStreamer pipeline, where new sources and branches are added and removed on the fly.

Smart TVs
webOS
webOS is the operating system of LG's smart TVs. Its media pipeline is based on GStreamer, and LG engineers regularly share their work at the GStreamer Conference, including a recent prototype of a Rust plugin to bring webOS to more devices and chips.

Embedded web
WPE WebKit
WPE WebKit is the WebKit port for embedded devices such as set-top boxes. Its media playback, adaptive streaming (MSE) and WebRTC are built on GStreamer, and the GstWPE plugin can turn a web page into a video stream.

Surgical devices
ZEISS Meditec
ZEISS Meditec, the medical technology company of the ZEISS Group, makes devices including surgical visualization systems. It uses GStreamer in several of its products.

Streaming TV
Vega OS
Vega OS is Amazon's new Linux-based operating system for Fire TV, replacing the Android-based Fire OS. Its media player is built on GStreamer, which handles hardware-accelerated decoding and rendering for streaming apps.
