GStreamer Conference 2026

We're thrilled to announce that the 14th GStreamer Conference is now confirmed to take place on Saturday and Sunday 10-11 October 2026 in Prague, Czech Republic, followed by a GStreamer hackfest on Monday and Tuesday 12-13 October 2026.

This is right after the Embedded Linux Conference Europe. and the weekend dates are designed to make it easier for ELCE attendees to stay on for the GStreamer Conference.

Details

The GStreamer Conference is a conference for developers, community members, decision-makers, industry partners, researchers, students and anyone else interested in the GStreamer multimedia framework or Open Source and cross-platform multimedia.

Who should attend?

Anyone interested in open source cross-platform multimedia is encouraged to join us at the GStreamer Conference 2026!

Whether you are a hobbyist, app developer, researcher or student interested in the field of multimedia, or working for a company that is using or looking to use GStreamer in their products, this is the perfect event for you to network at and to learn more about the latest technological developments and project news, and to meet developers as well as the wider community.

Registration

There will be separate registration options for professionals, speakers and for students and hobbyists:

Professional (Early Bird)	CZK 7250 (ca. 300 EUR / 350 USD) for both days, incl. 12% VAT
Professional (Regular)	CZK 8500 (ca. 350 EUR / 400 USD) for both days, incl. 12% VAT
Professional (Corporate)	CZK 17000 (ca. 700 EUR / 800 USD) for both days, incl. 12% VAT
Speakers (for non-lightning talks)	Free (instructions will be sent by e-mail)
Student/Hobbyist	Free or voluntary donation

All tickets include lunch at the venue on both conference days and the hackfest days, as well as access to the evening social event.

Different tickets have different refund policies: All tickets are transferable or fully refundable in case of visa issues or if entry was denied at the border. Early Bird tickets are transferable, but not refundable. Regular Professional tickets are 50% refundable until 25 September, and non-refundable therafter. Corporate Professional tickets are fully refundable until 25 September, 80% refundable until 9 October, and non-refundable therafter.

For those uncertain about whether to register as a professional or hobbyist, the general rule is that if your company pays for your travel or sponsors you, you are a professional, and if you personally pay you are a student or hobbyist. If in doubt drop us a mail or just register as hobbyist. The important thing is that you'll make it to the conference!

Speakers: You will receive free registration! Details will be sent out by e-mail along with the talk acceptance notifications. Not that we will complain if you decide to buy a ticket of course.

Note: The registration system only allows to collect details for one attendee per booking, so anyone wanting to register multiple tickets needs to do that in separate transactions. You can put 12345678 into the phone number field. We don't need the phone number, but it wasn't possible to remove the field from the form. Thanks!

Call for Presentations

The call for presentations is now open for talk proposals and lightning talks.

The initial submission needs to be only a couple of sentences or paragraphs describing the talk you want to give and the desired length of your talk.

You will still be able to edit and refine your talk proposal after the initial submission, so there's no need to hold off until the last minute to get it perfect.

Talks will be reviewed and slots allocated on a rolling basis, so make sure to submit your proposal sooner rather than later!

The submission deadline for talk proposals is 15 September 2026, 23:59h Prague time!

Talks can be on almost anything multimedia related, ranging from talks about applications to challenges in the lower levels in the stack or hardware.

We want to hear from you, what you are working on, what you are using GStreamer for, what difficulties you have encountered and how you solved them, what your plans are, what you like, what you dislike, how to improve things!

You can log in using your existing freedesktop.org GitLab account if you have one, or register a new account with the system. If you have problems receiving your verification e-mail try a non-gmail.com address. Logging in via gitlab might also require a few tries.

Schedule and speakers list

The full schedule will be published at a later date once the inital Call for Presentations round has closed.

However, we will be reviewing talk and lightning talk proposals on a rolling basis and will add them here as we go, so watch this space!

Talks will be recorded and livestreamed again by Ubicast and will be made available for viewing after the conference.

Showcase or Lightning Talks

There were again opportunities for short lightning talks for those who did not wish to present a full talk, but just wanted to showcase something they're working on, or present a problem or challenge they are facing or have solved, and that they think might be interesting for others to hear about.

City

By train You can travel directly by train to Prague from many cities, such as Berlin, Budapest, Bratislava, Copenhagen, Dresden, Hamburg, Kraków, Linz, Munich, Vienna, and Warsaw. Many more are just one change away.

By air Prague is served by a single international airport: Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG), with direct flights to more than 160 destinations, and also easily reachable through all major European hubs.

Entry requirements, Visas The Czech Republic is part of the European "Schengen area". Many international visitors, including most EU, EEA, Swiss US, Canadian, Australian, Japanese and South Korean citizens, will neither need a Visa nor prior travel authorization to enter, only a valid passport. A European travel authorization scheme (ETIAS) is planned for late 2026 / early 2027, but this is not in operation yet, and no start date has been announced yet, so we think it is unlikely to come into force before the conference.

Hotels

The venue is close to the city center and as such there are many hotels nearby. Public transport is also quite good, so accommodation options that are a few metro stops or trams stops away are not a problem at all. The venue is easily reachable via the metro and tram.

The following is just a small selection of hotels which may or may not be suitable. Prague is a major city and tourist destination and as such has many hotels and hostels in all price categories. The below is merely a small selection, you can find more using the usual booking engines such as booking.com, lastminute.com or airbnb.com.

The conference venue (ImpactHub Prague) is in the district Prague 5 - Smíchov not far from the transport hub and B line metro stop Anděl, and some closer tram stops too. It should therefore be fairly easy reach by public transport or taxi from all areas of the city and especially the city centre. There is public transport in form of busses, trams and an underground metro.

The following hotels are located near the venue (ImpactHub) and the Anděl transport hub, and had at least a couple of rooms left at the time of writing, but there are many other hotels in the city which may be better located or provide better value:

GStreamer hackfest

There will again be a hackfest after the conference, on Monday and Tuesday 12-13 October 2026, at the same venue as the conference (ImpactHub).

Code of Conduct and Anti-Harrassment Policy

Policy

The GStreamer project and the conference organisers are dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to, offensive verbal comments, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. We expect participants to follow these rules at all conference venues, hackfest venues, and conference-related social events.

If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the conference organisers and/or their delegates may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a conference organiser or member of the code of conduct committee below immediately.
