Audio and Video to iPod
Description
I want to convert any audio and video format to a format supported by the iPod.
Supported formats are:
- Video: MPEG4 Container with x264 or XVid encoded video and MP3 or AAC encoded audio.
- Audio: MP3 or AAC encoded
I want to select the quality and speed of the conversion. Both x264 and Xvid encoders have parameters that can be tweaked, but the user should only have to choose between a faster but poor conversion or a high quality and slower conversion.
And the user could choose between different audio qualities, changing the bit-rate.

Convert Video for different platforms
Description
This is very similar to the above use case for converting video to iPod format. There should be presets for different platforms. Such as one for Windows, Mac, Linux and even specific devices like iPod, XBox or PlayStation Portable.

If I need to embed a video in a PowerPoint presentation on a Windows computer, I should be able to say, "make this video powerpoint compatible!" and it will know which resolutions, codecs and container format should be used.

StefanKost: Good point, I was also thinking about supporting encoding presets, where the users can select to transcode for certain applications/devices. problem here is that the format can be a moving target. e.g. with OS updates the best possible format can change (for nokia tabletts we would need to have different presets for each device(-family) and os-version).
Transcode to Flash Video
Description
Users upload various media in any format, we batch transcode them into FLV via a python script. We'd prefer if we could just give a height and width and everything else would be done. We'd prefer if mp3 to FLV could use a static image for the visual.

Encode audio/video from application
Description
Applications that create content will at some point need to render the result in a certain format to publish it.
Operation
The application want to create an encoder selection dialog, pass the format of the content as input and receive a bin as the result. The application can plug the bin and run the pipeline to produce the result. The bin would have one sink pad for each stream and one sourcepad, so that the application can conenct a filesink, etc. The dialog should be available as a widget (as well), so that it is up to the application wheter it wants to combine it with the target filename selection.
